Dear Blat,

I have searched the archive in vain in order to find a solution for my
problem with "æ, ø, å" in subject. I think I have tried all
possibilities in the syntax, but nothing helps. Is there a solution?

I think you want to try the -charset option. Other than that, I don't
have a suggestion.

I did a couple of tests

1.
,----- [ Blat command line ]
| blat %0 -of t.txt
`-----
,----- [ t.txt file for test #1 ]
| -t ***@blat.tld
| -s "æ, ø, å"
| -debug
| -log blat.log
| -timestamp
`-----
This worked just fine. I had the correct subject chars (æ, ø, å), and looking at
the header, I see this

Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?B?5iwg+Cwg5Q==?=

---=========================================================

#2.
,----- [ Blat command in a .bat file ]
| blat %0 -of t.txt -s "æ, ø, å"
`-----
,----- [ Looked like this on the command line! ]
| blat toFile.bat -of t.txt -s "µ, °, s"
`-----
,----- [ t.txt file for test #2 ]
| -t ***@sdf.lonestar.org
| -debug
| -log blat.log
| -timestamp
`-----

This test did not work correctly... It looks like my command interpreter
did not understand the æ, ø, å characters at all. I got the incorrect
chars on the subject line (µ, °, s), and looking at the header, I see
this
Subject: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?=B5, =B0, s?=

What results are you getting when you test??
Is it an option to put your subject in a file and use -of (-OptionFile)?

Here I have testet with another charset. Same result.

Subject: =?windows-1250?Q?[Tips & Tricks] - =E3=CF+ =B5=B0=D5?=

(was: ÆØÅ æøå)

TM> Is it an option to put your subject in a file and use -of (-OptionFile)?

It is possible, yes, without any problems, but I must have
misunderstood the use of the subject in a textfile, because I got this
result:

,----- [ From log ] ------
| Blat saw and processed these options, and was confused by the last one...
| -log c:\sendt.txt
| -to ***@free.fr
| -charset ISO-8859-2
| c:\tips\emne.txt
| Do not understand argument: c:\tips\emne.txt
`------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I see that you put more than the subject in the text file (I only
wrote æøå), and that you use "-of" - and everything works fine :-)

Thank you very much for your help.

Yep, I put all the other parms in the -of file.txt, so does this mean
you got it to work?

Yes, I did - and even with one letter for each recipient. With 235
recipients it takes 10 minutes to send, so I guess if I get much more,
it could be a problem, but...

I now have this batchfile:

,----- [ test.bat ] ------
| FOR /F %%i in (c:\tips\test.txt) do blat c:\Dokumenter\tipbank\08-08-2003.txt
| -to %%i -of c:\dokumenter\tipbank\h08-08-2003.txt
`------------------------------------------------------------------------

and this text file:

,----- [ h08-08-2003.txt ] ------
| -s "subject of the week æøå"
| -x "X-INFO:Ugemailen Tips&Tricks fra Malka"
| -noh
| -tag "C:\\programmer\\the bat!\\cookies\\blandet.txt"
| -sig c:\tips\taglines\signature.txt
| -ps c:\tips\taglines\ps.txt
| -log c:\tips\08-08-2003.log
| -timestamp
`------------------------------------------------------------------------

At first I got an error with the tag-file, and figured out that I
should use double \\ - and it worked :-)
